What is your new role at ColinKurtis?
My new role at ColinKurtis is Junior Front End Developer. I will be assisting the digital team in pretty much anything they need support on, from wireframing and content entry to website development.
What does a typical day look like?
I try to start my days with exercise, but sometimes my desire to sleep beats my desire to be healthy, and I roll out of bed with just enough time to get to my desk before starting my work day at 7 am. So far, my days have been full of meetings, getting to know people, and learning the tools that CK uses. In my spare time, I like to learn new skills through Skillshare or Udemy! I walk my dog over my lunch hour, and then again after work before cooking dinner and relaxing for the night.
What part of your role do you enjoy the most?
Anything that allows me to be creative and utilize those skills, specifically anything involving Adobe XD and WordPress!
Can you tell us a little about your professional background?
I started my professional career as a paralegal. Once I realized that law was not the field I wanted to be in, I enrolled myself in a coding boot camp and became a web developer! I have been working as a front end developer since 2020, and am hoping to make a transition into more of a hybrid role that involves design in some way.
How do you enjoy spending your time outside the office?
In my free time, I like to rock climb, camp, and travel! I am also a metal-smith, so when I’m wanting a creative outlet, I make jewelry.
What did you want to be when you grew up (before you knew you would have a career in marketing)?
I always thought being an astronaut would be fun, which I suppose also explains why I am so into traveling. That would be the ultimate trip!
