Megan recently joined the ColinKurtis account management team as an Account Manager. We wanted to get to know her a little better with a Q&A.
What is your new role at ColinKurtis?
My new role is Account Manager. I am the link between our clients and our internal team. I make sure projects are on schedule and moving forward!
What does a typical day look like?
I start my day by reviewing my calendar and checking my to-do list for the day. I then check my emails and make sure communication is constantly flowing between our clients and our internal team whether that be calls, emails, or meetings. It is my job to make sure everyone is on the same page and has the information they need to be successful. If I can sneak in a 15-minute walk with my dog over my lunch break, I call it a good day!
What part of your role do you enjoy the most?
I love how my role begins and ends with teamwork. Whether that means working together as a team on the ColinKurtis side or as a team with my clients, I get to be very collaborative in my role which I very much enjoy.
Can you tell us a little about your professional background?
I received my bachelor’s degree in Family and Child Studies. I decided, right out of college, to get into the Legal field and worked as a legal and personal assistant. I then ventured into Office Management and happily landed in the field in marketing coordinator and account management roles.
How do you enjoy spending your time outside the office?
Outside of the office, I love spending time and going on adventures with my husband and dog, Leo. These adventures include hiking, camping, road trips, or just going out for ice cream. Recently, I have been trying to pick up golf…but have found it to be more frustrating than fun! Hopefully, practice makes perfect on that one! Otherwise, you will find me curled up on the couch watching FRIENDS or scrolling through Pinterest for ideas for my blog.
What did you want to be when you grew up (before you knew you would have a career in marketing)?
Dolphin trainer. That is the short answer until ten-year-old me realized there aren’t any dolphin trainers in Illinois and a degree would require a lot of science courses, which I never enjoyed. I had to let that pipe dream go. Outside of that, I never knew for sure what I wanted to be when I grew up. It wasn’t until my first Marketing position that I knew exactly where my path was headed.
